Retail Accelerator Programs for Emerging CPG Brands: 2026 Update

Written by The Lunr Team | Aug 27, 2026

Breaking into big box retail is tough for emerging CPG brands. Every year, our round-up of retail accelerators becomes one of our most-read blog posts as brands look for ways to support their long-term growth in mass retail.

This 2026 update includes new timelines, links, and programs from major retailers like Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, Sephora, Ulta, and others. This year also brought a wave of new independent accelerators designed to fuel growth outside the retail giants.

If you’re building an emerging brand, it’s worth exploring how these programs can provide capital, visibility, and expert support.

Big Box Retail Accelerator Programs

Walmart Open Call + Grow With Us Program

Walmart's annual pitch event gives entrepreneurs with shelf-ready products an opportunity to pitch directly to Walmart and Sam's Club merchants. The program is particularly focused on expanding Walmart's assortment of products made, grown or assembled in the U.S.

The complementary Grow With Us program supports selected brands with training, early payment tools, and digital onboarding. Applications for 2026 are now closed, but similar timing is expected for 2027.

Target Accelerators

Target continues to support emerging brands through its Accelerators Learning Center, an open-access hub with retail readiness curriculum and case studies. Founders can also submit a Supplier Intake Form to be considered for Target’s Forward Founders and Takeoff programs.

Target Takeoff

Target Takeoff is Target's later-stage, placement-specific program. It's only offered to founders who have already been invited onto Target shelves, so there's no separate application. Target's team reaches out directly to brands selected for onboarding support. Cohorts run seasonally around specific categories, including a Spring 2026 Food & Beverage cohort spanning coffee, tea, snacks, baking, and fresh categories.

  • Program Length: Around 5-6 weeks
  • Eligibility: Brands already selected for placement in target stores/online - no application needed

Independent + Ecosystem Accelerators

Not every great accelerator comes from a big-box retailer. These independent and ecosystem-driven programs offer capital, visibility, or functional support for emerging CPG brands looking to grow and scale outside of traditional retail partnerships.

SKU (Consumer Products Accelerator)

SKU’s 12-week programs offer hands-on mentorship from CPG investors, operators, and serial entrepreneurs. Companies in the program receive expert guidance in exchange for a small equity stake and join a strong alumni and mentor network. Notable alumni of the program include Siete Foods (acquired by PepsiCo) and DudeWipes.

  • Fall 2026 Track: Applications closed July 15; 7-brand cohort was announced on August 13, 2026
